Making Cheap Calls with BlackBerry Cell Phones

The use of Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) is restricted to land line phones till now. They drastically cut down your phone bills as accessing internet is relatively cheap compared to making voice calls. The voice messages are converted into data streams and transmitted over the internet in an inexpensive manner. But extending this facility to mobile phones, PDAs or smart phones has not happened so far.

This is because of the loss of revenue that would accrue to mobile phone service providers or carriers as well as the manufacturers once this technology is enabled. The latter work closely with the former and would want the business to thrive. They would like to maintain their profit margin.

But there is a solution to this problem. The advantages that VOIP offers can be still exploited by making web activated calls. The calls will be routed via the internet thus making them cheaper. The user must have a phone and a computer with internet connection and a browser.

Both the phone numbers must be entered into the computer and the latter dials both the numbers. It first calls your number and puts you on hold and then dials the other number. Once the call is established, both the parties can converse with each other. This service is available for free with some service providers like Jajah.com. All it needs is a simple registration in the website.

This facility for making calls through internet can be availed of by creating accounts with Jajah.com which is provided free of cost. The service is independent of distance between the users and is available in most countries except for some remote locations. For example someone in US can call another in China for free using this service. There is no need to pay exorbitant call charges.

BlackBerry handset users required a desktop computer with internet browsing facility for making the connection earlier. This defeated the very purpose of having a BlackBerry. But with 'BBC calls', a free program in BlackBerry only a data connection which is already present is required to make the calls.
